  • Motiff producer, musician, songwriter, artist (Just like a Motif symbol, the artist, producer, dj and songwriter, Arbise Gonzalez aka Motiff is the unifying element between the artist and the music. His electronic-edgy sound with Latin influences shape the theme elaborated in his music.

Motiff, was born in Caracas, Venezuela on September 25, 1984. At the early age of 5 he began to play every instrument in sight. He grew up by his father's side, influenced by his contribution to music. His father was the percussionist for the Venezuela-based and internationally known big band 'La Billo's Caracas Boys.” He began to integrate Motiff into the world of music and sound by taking him to recording sessions, rehearsals and shows. These close involvements led him to the acceptance into the Music Conservatory at the age of six where he later studied music theory and perfected performance of various instruments. In1996, Motiff brought his talent to the United States, assimilating to the culture while integrating his unique sound and rhythms to the diversity of the Miami music scene. In 2004, Motiff was given the opportunity to apply his gift and work closely with Jose Miguel Velazquez, a popular music producer and vocal coach to the stars. One beat at a time, he co-produced for Latin music artists such as David Bisbal, Don Omar, David Bustamante, Shalim and Pimpinela. In 2012, alongside music mogul, Emilio Estefan, Motiff co-produced superstar Gloria Estefan's hit dance song “Hotel Nacional.” “Hotel Nacional” debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs Chart and placed #1 on the Billboard Dance Charts. He is the mastermind behind hits such as Jencarlos feat. Pitbull & Cata's 'Baila Baila' and the Billboard chart topping hit 'Pegate Mas' by Dyland and Lenny. In 2013 he joined Pitbull's 'Global Warming Tour' as part of the Artist's band 'The Agents’ while collaborating on Samo's Album ‘Invevitable’ , Jbalvin's freshman album ‘La Famila’ and his first single as an artist, 'I'll Be Fine' released in spring of 2014 under Mr. 305 INC.2014 and 2015 brought new challenges and opportunities as he produced “Que Suenen Los Tambores” for salsa singer Victor Manuelle. This was the only song to stay at #1 on the Billboard Tropical Chart for 9 consecutive weeks in 2014, Victors biggest hit since 2004. At the same time he produced the second single for Latin Artist Natalia Jimenez called “Quedate Con Ella.” This would be followed by another 6 songs on Jimenezs’ Album “Creo En Mi,” which debuted at #2 on the Billboard Latin Album Chart.Well into 2015, Motiff is working on Chino y Nacho's album ‘Radio Universo’ producing the first single called “Me Voy Enamorando” Ft. Farruko currently climbing the charts. Followed by Gente De Zona's “La Gozadera” Ft. Marc Anthony, which earns the highest debut on Hot Latin Songs Billboard Chart. The song logged nearly 4,000 downloads sold its’ first week, according to Nielsen Music, enough for a No. 7 debut on Latin Digital Songs. The list of upcoming projects continues for Motiff as he keeps pushing the boundaries with his signature sound, catchy melodies and lyrics.) Now I wouldn't be surprised if this is a bit of a nebulous and genre-specific term, but it seems to me that even simply having an article that says so would be useful to those who are curious.
  • Scoring Stage - 'Scoring Stage' appears to be a technical term for a place used to record movie scores. It appears in news articles and Google searches for the term used in this way. 'Sound Stage' has an article, but this is a different concept. ([764], [765], [766])

Music-related articles in need of help[edit]

Jargon[edit]

Many music articles need to be made more clear to the lay reader (see:Wikipedia:Explain jargon and Wikipedia:Guide to writing better articles#Think of the reader).

These include music, interval (music), and scale (music).

Needing pictures[edit]

By topic[edit]

Music History[edit]

  • The 100 Greatest New Rock Moments - needs additions, review, and lots of references!

Bands[edit]

  • Black Label Society - Needs to be locked because practically the whole page was filled with POV. User:URFG -- 15:53 February 16th
  • Butterfly Messiah - Needs formatting. It appears as though the bulk of the page was directly copy+pasted from the official site. --Blu Aardvark 23:46, 10 July 2005 (UTC)
    • The page appears to have been formatted, though there's very little information. Is it time to remove this page from the list? --Niwikki 09:21, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
  • Boys Night Out - This page is awful. Its been tagged for NPOV, clean up, and wikify. The person who wrote the majority of it seems to write like a music critic. --Windsamurai 21:47, 9 September 2005 (UTC)
  • Dangerous Toys - Semi Disbanded is a made up section header (Current Projects seems more appropriate). Much of the Section content promotes upcoming commercial product releases - including some for other bands. Needs a shift in focus to actual (i.e., current or previous) Dangerous Toys releases.
  • Deadsy - This page has potential. It has alot of easily accessible information, but everything is unsourced. Some things are easy to find, well others are not so much. Lamentingvampire09 07:20, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
  • Poison - This article has an extreme fan pov, and is riddled to the core with ridicules statements, trying to make the band sound like its one of the greatest groups on the planet. Avador 19:31, 16 March 2006 (UTC)
  • Shattersphere - This page is very biased. Just look at the intro, 'Imagine the ultimate combination of Rock and Metal, a genre of music that can dominate the Mainstream world and still have enough capacity to steamroll into the Underground. Now take a quintet of driven, talented, and professional musicians and the result is Shattersphere.'.
  • Animate Objects - Probably should be deleted. Please join the discussion. Timneu22 (talk) 12:13, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
  • Queens of the Stone Age - Just joined this WP .. QOTSA's page is full of good facts and is somewhat cited but it needs an overhaul. I am going to dive in head-first! Any and all suggestions are more than welcome -- I'm going to need some help along the way! AC (talk) 03:00, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
  • Christian Death - Numerous problems..Mainly that NONE of the information is cited, and the references is full of unreliable sources that are mainly heresay. The article is also extremely biased, and most of the contributors have a biased either towards Rozz Williams or Valor Kand. The article needs a neutral person to come in and clean it up..I've tried and failed. rzrscm (talk) 23:10, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
  • Monyaka - I've been told that you may be able to help me out with finding good references for this.--90.204.123.40 (talk) 18:53, 29 August 2011 (UTC)
  • Before You Exit (group) - stub-sorted it just now, but when I tried to move it to proper title of Before You Exit I found Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Before You Exit. Not sure whether the new article shows notability. If so, we need a WP:RM; if not, then speedy. I'm not a music expert. (Is this noticeboard still alive, I wonder?) PamD 07:31, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

    • As of 6/2006, there are pages for four (5-7-8-9) late symphonies. (The early ones are much less frequently heard; someone who owns them could reference their record notes .. short articles are better than nothing for starters, they will get filled in eventually.)Twang 02:31, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
  • Robert Schumann - Same here, only very few of his major works have their own articles as of now. MikeCapone 22:36, 30 Dec 2004 (UTC)
  • Antonio Salieri - Quite a few issues here; see its talk page for details. In summary, very POV, disputed facts (like Mozart accusing Salieri of attempted murder). --C S 02:26, Jan 3, 2005 (UTC)
  • Robert Hardy (bassist) — The last two sentences about this artist's webbed feet and his lies seems farfetched. Could somebody check these facts? Thank you. — RJH 22:37, 10 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Opera[edit]

  • Giovanni Velluti has contradictory death dates in eunuch and his own article. Castrato gives his name as 'Giambattista Velluti.' Help! -leigh (φθόγγος) 04:28, Dec 29, 2004 (UTC) Update: he's also on sopranista, as 'Giovan Battista Velluti.' I'm picking up bits of this guy all over. -leigh (φθόγγος) 04:44, Dec 29, 2004 (UTC)
Alright, his birthdate has been fixed per grove, I removed a broken external link from Sopranist (which he wasn't). Giambattista is just a common contraction of his given names, so I've left that alone. I think that's all. Makemi 00:19, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

Genres[edit]

  • The Space music article urgently requires outside opinions on a number of matters relating to definition of the term and its context with the ambient music continuum. --Gene_poole (talk) 23:44, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
  • The Dark Cabaret article is in need of some serious TLC. It had four infoboxes on it before I got ahold of it; now it has a fifth. Please, if you can, fix this article. In its current state, it's a blight. 71.228.173.7 (talk) 22:12, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
  • There's an RfC going on at Talk:Pop music - input would be greatly appreciated! Sssoul (talk) 12:10, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
  • The former featured article blues and in particular its section musical style needs much cleanup and references. Could some music expert have a look at it. Thanks. Vb 11:32, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
  • Help! Anybody interested in taking a pop at Dream pop with me, this article is driving me nuts, people just fill it up with any old rubbish, see my comments on talk page, firstly it is a vaguely defined, almost non-existant genre, never heard of it before myself and it's mainly OR with comments like 'the Velvets, Husker Du, the Cocteau Twins, Bauhaus' etc. were all influences on it.

None of the bands listed in the lede as the main proponents have any article, reference or bio referring to them as dream pop. CaptainScreeboParley! 19:53, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

Singers[edit]

  • Christina Aguilera's Stripped album article doesn't cover the singles 'Fighter', 'Cant Hold Us Down' and 'The Voice Within' as much as the first two singles on the album.
  • Aziza Mustafa Zadeh is poorly written. Lot's of grammatical mistakes and not much information.
    • I made a bunch of headway with the writing & grammar, but the article is still pretty thin. Bubamara 09:59, 31 Mar 2005 (UTC)
  • Geoffrey Oryema includes only a rewording of his amazon.com description (from CD cover) and external links, as I don't have access to any biographical sources - any takers? - Kwill 16:53, Jun 12, 2005 (UTC)
  • Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan - He was a major Qawwali singer. The article needs to be improved a lot. I would do it myself, but I have little knowledge of music. Anyone who studies music will find working on this article very interesting, as his music is uniqe and this man was famous the world over. Anyway, the lead needs expansion, better description of his music in technical terms needs to be given, and the article needs more references. --Zaindy٨٧ 12:21, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
  • Diana Ross's Diana Ross' Greatest Hits album article has a two questionable paragraphs: the one starting 'Diana had no less than 4 albums on the charts at the time..' because it refers to albums and songs that came out years later and the grammar and meaning is questionable; and the one starting 'Diana Ross Greatest Hits' included one of the first mega-mixes created by a club dj' because the album contains no such mix. It would seem that these paragraphs were intended for a different article.--Pmarkush (talk) 13:40, 14 August 2013 (UTC)

Events[edit]

  • Woodford Folk Festival - The woodford folk festival is a massive annual event that involves hundreds of thousands of people and has been around for almost 20 years in some form but the entry is absolutely tiny and does nothing more then acknowledge its existence.

Record Labels[edit]

Music of the United States[edit]

Article is well written, heavily sourced, much too long, and incomplete. Organization is incoherent. Says more about Klezmer than Jazz. This has the makings of a featured article that went astray. Part of the Arts of the United States series. Durova 19:44, 10 December 2005 (UTC)

Italian popular music[edit]

Article lacks coherence and import. The sections vary considerably in content and focus, with some amounting to little more than lists. Someone with a broad understanding of modern Italian music, including its influences, could really help this one along. Vineviz 15:08, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

I've translated Arioso from fr:Arioso. Being not a specialist in music, I thought I'd bring it to your attention, to see if it makes any sense at all! --Wonderfool 10:29, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

This article needs considerable attention. It makes some sense, but is very incomplete, and in some instances inaccurate. The French article as of today's date is certainly somewhat improved from the version translated two years ago - a new translation would be a good starting point. Embouchure[edit]

Not referenced, and past versions have received complaints from professors and students in the field. -- Zanimum 17:27, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

This article mentions Reinhardt and Farkas. Both of these people have written books on the subject of embouchure, and permission to cite these texts could probably be easily attained. Another great reference is David Hickman's 'Trumpet Pedagogy'. This book retails for about $44. Being a trombonist, I would also recommend Ed Kleinhammer, Reginald Fink, and the Alessi/Bowman edition of the Arban Method. --Mdwilber (talk) 19:13, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

Sound production and choice of equipment (mouthpiece) is highly dependent on mouthpiece placement. What I mean is that a player with a 70/30 upper/lower embouchure is going to be able to play lower more easily, while the other way around enables the player to play higher more easily. For this reason, this fact should be given a greater amount of emphasis. --Mdwilber (talk) 19:23, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

This article failed the WP:FLC due to the ongoing dispute of the format of the article. Please, we need to resolve this dispute ASAP, and the only to do it is by voting. Susan Hurley (composer)‎[edit]

Could somebody please take a look at Susan Hurley (composer)‎? I am in a bit of an edit war with a very stubborn newbie who refuses to follow Wikipedia style formatting. I've never heard of this composer, and I have no opinion as to anything about her, but the article reads like a resume, full of sentence fragments, and the newbie owner of the article is repeatedly attacking me for having the temerity to suggest that his prose is not deathless. Corvus cornixtalk 23:16, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Timeline of musical events[edit]

If this article is in any way useful it should be linked on the music portal.

Though, I don't think in its present state it is useful. It's not neutral. It should either be a mere link list of articles on the individual years in music or - if some events are pointed out there- someone should make sure that only really significant events are mentioned, not the birth of some musicians or the release of some albums. At least, if people think some event is important enough to be mentioned there they should make clear why. Could someone from the music project please have a look at this?--Sylvia Anna (talk) 21:56, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Sofia Rotaru earns $100,000,000 a year?[edit]

The article on Sofia Rotaru features a claim of her having declared an income of $100 millions for 2007. This would make her the highest earning solo performer in the world in that year, compared to e.g. Madonna earnign 37 . The claim is based on a synthesis of two unlinked claims by the Deputy Chairman of the State Tax Administration of Ukraine. The annual incomes of similar Post-Soviet entertainers did not exceeded $9 millions (Alla Pugacheva, Filipp Kirkorov, Maxim Galkin). See all the evidence on Talk:Sofia Rotaru. --Jaan Pärn (talk) 12:38, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

Beta Aivin Me-100 Manual Online

The above mentioned problem is just one example out of many. The article features more outrageous claims (including Rotaru being the first ever rapper in the 1970s), weasel words (Rotaru is considered a Pop Queen etc) and unencyclopaedic content (info about her impersonators, friends etc). All of the issues have been raised on the respective talk page accompanied by a nasty edit war resulting in every possible improvement reverted by a raving fan of Rotaru. A 3O process was initiated which failed completely, mostly, because it is solely a content issue. The article in its current shape is a parody of what a wikiarticle on a musician should be and therefore in bad need of attention. --Jaan Pärn (talk) 13:48, 23 November 2009 (UTC)

Concert is an unreferenced shambles[edit]

What ought to be a fundamental topic for this project is a disaster of an article. It needs a complete rewrite. Volunteers needed. LeadSongDogcome howl 04:30, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

Needs help to establish notability and verify information in the article. We've found almost no online sources about the instrument. --Ronz (talk) 02:57, 6 March 2011 (UTC)

Song[edit]

Need someone more familiar with the subject to please visit Talk:Song#Edit_dispute and see if perhaps a third party can comment and help clarify the issue of whether or not a song must have words (as opposed to an instrumental). - SudoGhost (talk) 00:26, 29 April 2011 (UTC)

Victor Talking Machine Company[edit]

Someone is inserting wrong info regarding the Victor Talking Machine Company. A new unrelated entity calling itself the Victor Talking Machine Company was formed last year and a problem editor keeps treating the two companies as one and the same. Please monitor the Victor Talking Machine article and revert erroneous postings. Thank you. Steelbeard1 (talk) 22:30, 28 March 2015 (UTC)

Sources[edit]

I write article Dare Straits Tour and I create stubs on redlinks and in discussion there was a question on sources. I lean against soundly worked site, on it is much posters and tickets. The opponent doubts reliability, but it is not enough its arguments to overpersuade me. This question somewhere was discussed?--Andrey! 09:22, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

Norman Bailey (musician)[edit]

Hello, my friends: A group of us are working on clearing the backlog at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Articles_lacking_sources_from_October_2006. The article in the above header has been without sources for the past four years and might be removed if none are added. I wonder if you can help find one or two good references. While you are at it, can you check on this gentleman's Wp:Notability? Sincerely, and all the best to you, GeorgeLouis (talk) 06:58, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

Experimental rock[edit]

Hello,

an editor deleted most of the article on experimental rock [768]. As he says on the talk page, he aims to rewrite it, and could find three sources, including Allmusic and a book on the band Yes. 7 months later, his version doesn't include a single reference to most of the important developments, including psychedelia, post-punk and industrial, but gives major weight to something called 'post-progressive'. The version of the article from February was mostly unsourced, but comparatively long and detailed and looked competent enough. I suggested improving on it instead of writing from scratch, but the editor didn't express his will to cooperate, saying only that I should 'go for it'. I don't have enough time to see to all this, so I decided to notify you of this issue. Chilton (talk) 12:06, 5 September 2016 (UTC)

  • It should be noted that the original version of 'experimental rock' had been tagged with issues since 2007, and that it contained only 6 refs. Virtually the entire 22KB article was OR.
@Chilton: In response to this comment: 'I suggested improving on it instead of writing from scratch, but the editor didn't express his will to cooperate, saying only that I should 'go for it'. I don't have enough time to see to all this ..', please read WP:BURDEN:
All content must be verifiable. The burden to demonstrate verifiability lies with the editor who adds or restores material, and is satisfied by providing a citation to a reliable source that directly supports the contribution.
By 'go for it', I mean you are welcome to provide citations – if you can find them. I have tried looking for sources that directly support most of the claims from the original article. I have not been successful.
--Ilovetopaint (talk) 15:37, 5 September 2016 (UTC)
I restored some of the material with sources, any further help would be appreciated. Chilton (talk) 16:23, 5 September 2016 (UTC)
